Riverside – “Vale of Tears”

Single: “Vale of Tears”

Artist: Riverside

Genre: #Metal

Sub-Genres: #ProgressiveRock

Label: InsideOutMusic

Non-Airable Tracks: NONE

Description:

“Vale of Tears” by Riverside is a prime example of progressive rock and “metal” for people who aren’t metalheads. The song errs more on the side of rock with electronic influences than metal. The vocals are pleasantly clean and melodic. The Polish accent of the lead singer actually adds a bit of charm rather than distract you. The guitar solo about two thirds of the way through transitions into the metal side of the song. However, I would say it is more reminiscent of a classic rock than metal and what tones of “metal” there were are relatively brief. The guitar solo is fantastic and makes you feel like a warrior riding through a field. The lyrics and the clean vocals singing of the “promised land” also adds to this epic, old-time feeling. Overall, the song is a great rock song and I would recommend it to people like me, people who don’t listen to metal but enjoy classic rock.
