ৎ୭ NEW ALBUM ALERT ৎ୭ All of This Will End Album Review

Updated: Oct 1, 2023

I love you, Indigo De Souza... and can you say "coolest cover art ever??"

Dearest KAMP readers,

I have been living under a rock! Approximately two weeks ago, I discovered North Carolina singer-songwriter, Indigo De Souza, and I feel like the goat who ate the first coffee bean. Have you ever found an artist and thought to yourself I am so grateful to be alive and have the privilege of getting to listen to music? Listening to this album, I felt that feeling! Discovering a new artist that you love is such a special thing. So allow me to introduce you to the world of Indigo De Souza. She has been making music for just about seven years, and has amassed just under one million monthly listeners. I'm embarrassed I didn't find her music sooner. But no point stressing about the past. One month ago, De Souza released her third album, All of This Will End. The album offers an eclectic blend of indie rock songs that feel like part of the soundtrack to a contemporary rom-com/coming-of-age film. At the same time, evoking a vintage sound. All in all, I am grateful to exist on an planet with this album, which is pretty high musical praise. ৎ୭

Album: All of This Will End

Artist: Indigo De Souza

Label: Saddle Creek

Non-Airable Tracks: Time Back, All of This Will End, Smog

Description:

For me, this is kinda a no-skip album. De Souza brings us sad, humble guitar on songs like "Younger & Dumber," and punky nostalgia on songs like "You Can Be Mean." I enjoyed all of it TBH, which is crazy???? I feel like a few modern albums have just been so mediocre. I'm tired of the same sound and lyrics everywhere. "ABCDEFU" crossed a line.

But I like this album. A lot. I will screams my praises from the rooftops. For anyone to listen. De Souza ability to bring such a diverse range of songs to one album is impressive. For me to enjoy the vast majority of those songs is doubly impressive! I mean I'm not the pickiest, but I really, thoroughly enjoyed listening to all Live footage of me, under a rock 33 minutes of this album. Most of the

tracks are on the shorter side (under three minutes), so it's a fairly easy listen. De Souza's voice especially shines on "Losing." It has a poetic quality, enhanced by her delicate voice. In the opposite direction, "Wasting Your Time" pits De Souza's voice against abrasive, 90s inspired guitar. The contrast is perfect, because the guitars don't outshine De Souza. I was reminded of Mazzy Star for some reason by this track. Give it a listen if you want! You may discover an artist that you love, or even a single song you like. I'd say some risks are worth taking.
