The experimental R&B artist, Kelela returns with two new singles: "Washed Away" and "Happy Ending". After removing all of her posts on Instagram and rarely posting on other social media platforms like Twitter (except for when she was hacked and claimed to be giving away PS5s - which she later poked fun at in a funny video), Kelela surprised fans.
The track "Washed Away" is a mellow, ambient song, with little to no percussion. Listening to the song is very meditative due to its hypnotic and eerie synths that stay for the whole duration of the song. Kelela's vocals are impressive hitting several different riffs that contain a lot of reverb.
With genres like garage, dance-pop, and house returning, Kelela is right on top of things by releasing the single, "Happy Ending". This track has a vintage nightclub/ U.K. garage essence to it. If you like artists like "Pink Pantheress" or the more underground "LSDXOXO", you will certainly be fond of "Happy Ending".
