Fujii Kaze's third full length album "Prema" is a feat in musical production and talent. Kaze's album has solidified his place as a powerhouse in terms on the many genres this piece covers.
The album begins the with soulful and deeply melodic "Casket Girl", complete with Kaze's signature vocals with lyrics to match the soul of the song. Continuing on, the track "Hachikō" touches on the message of the album as a whole, unity and kindness. This track takes from many different genres like R&B and Classical, and adds a certain optimism to the rest of the listen. Moving onto "Love Like This", arguably the most popular and well written tracks on the album. The lyrics on this particular track are the most personal, and give the audience a sense of belonging and connection to Kaze's writing. This track is littered with influences from R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Classical, and so many more genres, clearly the star of this wonderful project. The track "Prema" in which the album is named after, offers a declaration of love that touches on Kaze's faith. Lyrics like "Don't you know that you are love itself" offers a beautifully romanticized creation of love accompanied by a backtrack the seems to lift Kaze's vocals up. Finally, the final track "Forever Young" is a nostalgic and warm track that wraps up the themes and album as whole. The lyrics on this track in particular resonated with me personally, as it discusses growing up, birth, and nostalgia. These themes tie up the album in a meaningful way and one that allows the listener to think long after their listening experience has subsided.
Overall, Fujii Kaze's "Prema" is a well crafted and well thought out production filled with meaningful lyrics, expressive vocals, stunning backtracks, and personal themes. This is Kaze's first fully English album, a feat he has been working towards since first learning the language several years ago. This album shows the importance of unity, peace, and acceptance in such a dark period of time in our world. Go ahead and give Fujii Kaze's "Prema" a listen!
