"First of all let me get something straight, this is a journal not a diary"

Yes, that is right. Everyone's favorite coming of age movie has been brought to life once again with an animated version of the beloved classic. As a very enthusiastic consumer of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, I was very upset with the 2017 remake, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul". I was very excited to see that they were remaking the movie with an animated cast and it eased the tension. I am relieved that creator Jeff Kinney acknowledged that there will never be another hunk of man meat like Devon Bostick's Rodrick. My only complaint about this movie is that they did not recast Bostick as animated Rodrick.

I thought that the film was very creative artistically and for my eyes, I enjoyed seeing these cartoon characters move in motion. That's right, it was very cool to see Greg's manipulative friendship approach as an active cartoon. I thought that Fregley's character really stood out and he thrived as a cartoon character. It added new dimensions to the already mysterious and gross individual.

With that said, I have mixed reviews about them using the script and story line from the first book.

At the end of the day, I am happy with this product and will most likely watch again!

Score: 8.5/10
