Kero Kero Bonito is a British indie pop band known for its use of experimental synths and soft vocals. Their most popular song, "Flamingo", was released in 2014. The song would not go viral until 2017 after being spread across social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. I wasn't a fan of Kero Kero Bonito until around 2018 when they released their album Time 'n' Place.
Now, it is September of 2021 and they have released an album comprised of 7 songs from their two EPs Civilisation I and Civilisation II. After listening to the complete album, I absolutely love it. Because it is around a half hour long, it is quite easy to listen to in one sitting. While each single goes together, they all have something that sets them apart. This is an album that I can listen to repeatedly.
"When The Fire Comes" reminds me of their older music, while "The Princess and the Clock" sounds like 80's city pop. The album of a whole has that distinct Kero Kero Bonito sound that I absolutely love. If you love pop, especially pop with lots of synth, I highly recommend this album. If I were to recommend a few tracks from this album, it would be "Battle Lines", "The Princess and the Clock", and "21/40/20"
