Description:
Adam Darski has created yet another ungodly masterpiece with Behemoth’s new album “I loved You At Your Darkest”. This album is powerful and triumphant, beginning with an eerie children’s play song about repenting. The entire album is fluid, having each song blending into the next. Inferno, the drummer, manages to bring black metal and ferocity to Nergal’s poetic and beautiful lyrics. The albums ends with a beautiful instrumental track which is great for personal listening but maybe not for radio play.
I found the entire album to be the perfect blend of intense black metal and beautiful melodic metal. This album is just one more avenue for Darski to voice his anger and frustration towards the church and the Christian God. One lyric that stuck out to me was “there is dead space in between the suns”. Essentially this entire album was a chance to give one big middle finger to the Catholic Church.
Overall, I found this album to be extremely beautiful and well performed. The lyrics were intense and the drumming really brought the whole thing together. I would highly recommend this album to any heavy metal fan or anyone interested in melodic death metal.
